And here it ends...100 years of flying from Bristol Filton comes to an end. Unfortunately we were not allowed to film within the airfield, but from what we could see at our location, it was a very private, low key affair & underwhelming event. Nevertheless, Thank you Filton for many happy memories over the years!

Here we see a newly restored Supermarine Spitfire taking it's very first, and last, flight out of Bristol Filton Airport. The airfield will be closed on December 21st 2012 at Midday, meaning that a scene like this will never happen again. These shots, along with much more material will be included in the Documentary DVD "End of the Runway" - Due to be released in January 2013
and all Bristol has now is a fogbound airstrip up a country lane with no motorway links or rail links.......
If this wasn’t shut, I would get no sleep at all lol

I’ll always miss planes flying low over my house, the sound was incredible.

I will always miss filton - it was such an amazing airport that they had to close especially since Concorde was there.

Don't know if it's me but I get an error the first time I click on your videos. If I refresh then it loads fine. I don't get that anywhere else.
Superb. Iconic plane, one the a few you never forget the first time you saw it. Watching this enormous creature lift off less than half way up the runway brings home what a loss this airfield will be to aviation. Lovely film, thank you!
